Wisdom
and Compassion
- a conference on Buddhism and Psychotherapy: October 25 - 28
2001
There has been
a steady growth in the interest in Buddhism in the West over the
last twenty years. As part of this development many psychologists
and psychotherapists have seen that it is possible to engage in
fruitful dialogue with Buddhists and use Buddhist insights in their
own therapeutic practice with encouraging results.
With the intention
of taking this exciting meeting of these two approaches one step
further, Kagyu E-Vam Buddhist Institute is presenting the fifth
Conference on Buddhism and Psychotherapy hosting both international
and local speakers.
Participants
in the Conference will have an opportunity to work with positive
and negative aspects of emotions. This can lead to a better understanding
of seeing more clearly the habits of self protection and self limitation
that hinder both our mental/ physical health and our potential to
help others.
Set in the tranquil
foothills of the Yarra Ranges National Park, the Conference offers
participants an excellent opportunity to gain self-understanding,
to get to know others, and to share valuable experiences in both
formal and informal ways.
The presenters
have an intimate knowledge of Buddhism and therapeutic training;
both providing the ground for the development of a better sense
of well being.
This is the
only national conference of this nature held in Australia.
